I work for a hospital with multiple locations throughout the nation. Each coder codes a range (from the MRN) for every hospital. What is the best way to work the DNFB each day? Sort by hospital then by days since discharge? Any suggestions?

I always went with the highest dollar up to a certain point and then the oldest highest dollar. The idea is to get the highest dollar claims out the door so they can start processing, and then if you have any old claims that have been pending for some reason you get them worked so they do not fall out of timely filling. It has always been a good strategy for me.
