Working outside the scope of my job?

Hello, I work at a freestanding ASC as an account specialist. Typically, my job responsibilities include coding and billing. We are obligated to keep a record of all path reports and then highlight it when they come in. My boss has now decided that is going to be my job which I am NOT comfortable with at all (while I don't mind highlighting a piece of paper, this is a compliance issue which we are required to do). I question if this task is really outside the scope of my job. I know in any job, there is "other duties as assigned" but in some cases, there are jobs which coders and billers should not be doing like doing a patient's intake. I would really like some insight on this and am wondering if this is one of those cases. I have no clinical experience. Thank you so much in advance.
