How would I report a nurse visit only for wound care?


The wounds were originally treated in the ER. When the patient went to his PCP for the follow-up appointment, another debridement was done. Then the patient came in a couple days later for the nurse only wound care visit. I'm not sure how to code it correctly. The patient has Medicare.

I'm curious for other's thoughts on this too.

We bill these visits as a 99211 when the patient sees a nurse only.

We use the 99211 nurse visit also.

I would check their scope of practice because some of these wound nurses are allowed to debride to a certain point.
