I have a question concerning wound care and healing wounds. We have a patient who had a single wound (abdominal) and it healed in the middle. So the physician dictates as now having #1 turn into #2 and #3. So, the patient has 2 wounds now. Our auditor remembers reading something that indicates the wound is still considered one, and I know we have had the discussion before, but I can't find any documentation. Is there anyone out there that can help with this? Is this still considered one wound, or is it two wounds with healing in the middle? Help please?
