I have a report where the physician documented that he debride some fasciotomy wounds of the thigh and lower extremity compartments, medial and lateral, 240 cm2 then went on to do a repair but of the fasciotomy wounds of the thigh and the lower extremity but only the medial side on the lower extremity and documented that it was 50 cm repaired.
Can I code for the debridement and the wound closure separatley in this case? He left open the lateral wound on the leg but did debride it as well. I was thinking of subtracting the 50 cm from the 240 cm since I can not bill for the debridement of the medial side since it would be part of the wound closure.
any thoughts and or advice would be appreciative!
