Hello everyone.
I didn't see an urgent care or physician's office section, please excuse me if I'm not in the right spot.
I've got a coding quandary.
Patient was seen for a dog bite at urgent care. Wound was cleaned, then saucerized, cleaned again, and idoform wicks inserted.
The problem is I have absolutely no idea how to code the saucerization. I asked the provider to explain exactly what was done, the entire puncture was completely excised, I don't know if it's considered a debridement or an exploration since the wound was enlarged. And it's definitely not a repair because it wasn't closed.
So is it debridement or exploration?
