Patient is in a 90 day global and provider is having them return to clinic for change of Wound Vac dressing on at the excision site. We have searched CMS guidelines and we find they are unclear as to whether this would be included as part of the surgery or if we can bill for it with a 58 modifier? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you in advance for your help on this one!

Yes, you can bill for it. You don't need modifier 58, since this CPT falls under medicine section in the CPT book. Technically not a surgical CPT code, which requires the modifier 58.

I actually get denials when we put the modifier 58, so we end up having to take it off. But it doesn't hurt to add, then when it's denied. Just understand why. And take off the modifier.
