XU modifier Medicare- Biopsy/IUD removal (FQHC setting)

Hi,

I was discussing this scenario with a colleague and I wanted to ask for clarification. (This is for Massachusetts in an FQHC setting and where we follow different guidelines and PPS most of us are inclined to believe that the modifier would not be accepted. )

A patient came in complaining of post-menopausal bleeding, and an endometrial biopsy was performed as well as removing her IUD. Would this scenario warrant the use of an XU modifier? (same encounter, same practitioner, same anatomical site/structure)
