The ICD-10 coding book states under Z23 to "Code first any routine childhood examination".
This note has been debated and interpreted many different ways. Can you please advise how to code Z23 when vaccines/administrations are done in conjunction with well child visit?

We code the Z23 with the vaccinations only. The routine well child exam Dx (age and findings appropriate) goes with the well visit code. Hope that helps!
