Industry Notes

• By July 1, you'll see your 3 percent addon payments for claims already processed, CMS says in a new transmittal on the topic. Claims for patients in rural areas are eligible for the add-on if the "through date" is April 1 or later, CMS explains. If you already submitted an eligible claim that paid without the add-on, intermediaries will adjust the claims and pay you the add-on by July 1, says April 23 Transmittal No. 674 (CR 6955). The new Medicare payment rates for episodes, visits, and nonroutine supplies (NRS) are in the transmittal. Intermediaries will begin paying the add-on by May 24, says the transmittal at www.cms.gov/transmittals/downloads/R674OTN.pdf. Remember: The claims system will issue the 3 percent add-on to claims with CBSA codes that start with "999."
