• When you receive a claim adjustment due to a Recovery Audit Contractor audit, you're supposed to be able to tell with an N432 code on the remittance advice -- but don't count on it. Medicare contractors must place the RAC adjustment code on the RA only "when possible," CMS qualifies in April 23 Transmittal No. 167 (CR 6871) available at www.cms.gov/transmittals/downloads/R167FM.pdf.
