• If maintenance and service of oxygen equipment is covered under the equipment's warranty, suppliers shouldn't bill Medicare for the new oxygen equipment maintenance and service visits, CMS's Joel Kaiser said in the April 14 Open Door Forum for home care providers. Not paying for items and services covered under warranty is a longstanding Medicare policy, Kaiser told the forum. It's unlikely that warranties would cover maintenance and service of the equipment, because warranties usually just cover parts, a caller noted.
