The provider performs sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion using a percutaneous or minimally invasive approach. The SI joint is where the sacrum (the base of the spine) meets the ilium (part of the pelvic bone). In this service, the provider places one or more intra–articular devices, which are implants positioned inside the joint space, without piercing the cortical bone (the hard outer layer of bone). The procedure is unilateral, meaning it is performed on one side only, and includes image guidance.
