Summary

At the same session as an initial mitral valve repair and placement of a prosthesis in the mitral valve, the provider places additional prostheses during the same session. The provider repairs the narrowed and stiff mitral valve using a percutaneous approach. He may also puncture the heart through the septum. The provider releases the stiff valve while the patient is under the control of an artificial heart–lung machine and places additional prostheses.
