The provider inserts a catheter through the skin (percutaneous approach) and guides it into the heart's arteries or a coronary artery bypass graft. They restore blood flow in a completely or nearly blocked vessel causing an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). The provider may use angioplasty, stent placement, and/or atherectomy, and possibly manual aspiration thrombectomy. This code applies to a single major coronary artery and/or its branches or to a single bypass graft and/or its subtended branches.
