The provider performs a complete Doppler echocardiography, which uses high–frequency sound waves to create a two–dimensional image of the heart, while the use of Doppler technology allows determination of the speed and direction of blood flow via spectral display. Pulsed wave alternates between transmission and reception of ultrasound while continuous wave refers to uninterrupted or simultaneous generation and reception of sound waves.
