The provider performs Doppler echocardiography using pulsed wave and/or continuous wave with a spectral display for a follow–up or limited study. The ultrasound involves the continuous generation of ultrasound waves coupled with continuous ultrasound reception. The continuous wave Doppler uses continuous transmission and reception of ultrasound waves to accurately measure the highest blood velocity. The spectral display shows a graphic representation of the velocity and direction of blood flow. This is an add–on code for limited or follow–up study.
