I am so discouraged. I have been looking for a remote job since August.
I relocated in Michigan. I can't even get a on-site job. I have 12 years of coding experience and am willing to start all over at a level 1 coder. I am rejected without an interview Why?
Or I have had good interviews then hear nothing. I follow up and am just ghosted.
Due to a family illness, I had to leave a job where for long periods of time I was the only Behavior health coder for an inpatient psychiatric hospital. However,I have not done production coding for 3 years. No company wants me because of that. What about the 12 years before?
I audited CPT codes for the last 3 years for a Federal Medical Center. I was turned down for a job doing just that because I haven't coded. I was told handling 5 outpatient clinics, one of which was oncology chemotherapy infusion/injections in the prison system And reviewing inpatient charts to ensure a 3rd party company had coded for a major medical center, Duke University Hospital correctly "does not count".
I mean the job posting was exactly what I did, but "no coding", no job.
I see that CPC-As are getting jobs. Which is great.
But part of me doesn't understand what is wrong with me.
Is my coding career over because of 3 years of not doing production coding?
I am sorry for the rant. I am looking for someone to just tell me its over, and find a job delivering newspapers.

Hi,
I am in the exact same boat. I don't understand. One thing I have learned that if you apply for the jobs that are remote only in the state you live it , it narrows down the amount of candidates you are competing with. I give this advice, yet I still cant get hired! lol
Let me know if you have any suggestions for me or if you have been able to find employment. Good luck to you!

Hi, I manage a coding team. I can look at your CV/Resume and give you feedback. However, it may be feedback you do not want to hear. On the other hand I have found that over the years, sometimes friends and relatives are not the best at giving objective opinions regarding resumes and thus, folks often don't get honest opinions.

Where can I send my resume for your review?

Hello. I'm looking for an entry level Coding/Auditor/Reviewer position. I currently hold active CPC-A. I am open for x-tern internship programs as well. My workforce experience includes working front and back office in the medical field. In addition, I have a strong experience working with coders and providers utilizing and correcting deficiency charges and editing corrections as assigned. Please, let me know if you'd be interested in reviewing my resume. Thank you.
