Wiki OPEN reduction with Percutaneous pinning medial malleolus

I don't know if I'm overthinking this too much. I'd appreciate some feedback. Ortho attempted closed reduction with perc pinning, but was unable to get the fracture to reduce and felt a periosteum was entrapped in the site. At his point, he made an incision, dissected to the medial malleolus...
