My surgeon has been doing a lot of complex ventral incisional hernias. He is mobilizing the rectus musculature (the rectus muscle was then mobilized toward the midline by elevation of the subcutaneous skin flaps to near the lateral aspect of the rectus sheath. Relaxing incisions were NOT utilized. UPON MOBILIZATION WE WERE FELT TO HAVE ADEQUATE MOBILITY UNDER MINIMAL TENSION AT THE MIDLINE.
It appears he is doing a component seperation without the relaxing incisions. I am trying to decide if this is a component seperation with or without a modifier 52 or would it be a incisional hernia repair with a modifer 22?
