Hi. I was confused about which book to purchase this year. The CPT and the PCS are both procedure books, but should one be used over the other?

ICD-10 PCS is replacing volume 3 ICD-9 CM, and is used by inpatient facility coders. It is not effective until Oct 1 2015. Physician and outpatient coders will continue with CPT until it is replaced with CPT-5. So if you currently use CPT codes you will continue to use CPT codes.
