Can someone please help me to figure out what is the different between 45111 vs 44145. They both remove part of the rectum and anastamos the remainding rectum to the colon. Help

45111 the colon or distal rectum may be reapproximated; or the proximal end of colon may be brought out through a SEPERATE incision on abdominal wall as a colostomy and remaining rectum closed with staples or sutures.

44145 is a resection of distal colon or rectum and performs a low colorectal anastomosis in pelvis. Anastomosis is created between proximal colon and REMAINING rectum in pelvis with staples or sutures.

A colostomy is a surgical procedure in which an opening (stoma) is formed by drawing the healthy end of the large intestine or colon through an incision in the anterior abdominal wall and suturing it into place.
An anastomosis is a connection made surgically between adjacent blood vessels, parts of the intestine, or other channels of the body, or the operation in which this is constructed.

Hope this helps.
