Hi, Folks,
Question....
Pt. has b/l JP drains after surgery. Dr. injects contrast into each drain to assess.
Decision is made to downsize and change both drains.

In this case, do I bill just 49423/75984 X2?....we don't bill for the injection into drain, right?

I think I used to be okay with this, but for some reason, today I am not at all clear.

Thanks so much.

Margie

I don' t think the question is that simple. Is there an interpretation of images? what is the "contrast" for? Is he just checking for refluxed material etc? Can you provide a report?

I am asking myself the same thing. Insurance carriers are denying the 49424 when billed with 49423. But we were taught to bill both together.
