Wiki 90836 - Psychotherapy

In the CPT Book 2023 and 2024 states that code 90836 can be billed with an Evaluation and Management service, but the two services must be significantly and separately identified. Does this mean that the time spent should be 38-45 minutes plus the E/M code minutes(60)? Should the SOAP note indicate two separate sections for the Psychotherapy and Evaluation Management?

Yes on the documentation separate the record by stating so many minutes for the psychotherapy by describe current illness. Then for medical portion or chronic condition add minutes then discuss how monitoring this illness. The med coder will link appropriate dx with the proper CPT codes.
