Wiki Adding a modifier to a Denied CPT code

Hi,

I talked to the insurance that denied CPT code 87623(submitted with CPT codes 87624 and 88175 on the same claim-see below); the insurance said I can add a modifier to 87623 and resubmit the claim to be paid; can you please advise what is the proper modifier to be added to 87623?

87623 denied
87624 paid
88175 paid

Per CCI edits, "Code 87623 is a column 2 code for 87624, These codes cannot be billed together in any circumstances.
Code 87623 is bundled into code 87624 Code 87623 cannot be billed with 87624."

I'm not really sure why you're being told to add a modifier and it will pay.
