Can anyone guide me as to where I may look or give suggestions as to what might be used for scenario? We sent our new patient a 2 year old adopted patient to get lab work and gave the ICD10 code diagnosis code Z02.82. The patient's claim was denied as a non covered code for Z02.82 ''encounter for adoption services." We have used this code for the adoption lab work in the past but in my search. I am finding that it is non covered in my search. After searching the ICD10 book and other online sources, I find they lead me to this same code adoption code, Z02.82. Could anyone please give me some guidance? Any help is appreciated.
