Any hacks for contacting Insurance Plans for their TIN?

Greetings~~~

I occasionally need to send denied claims to the US Treasury for collection. As part of that, I need to include the company's Tax ID number. It's not easy to get that info. We keep a log of some major payers, but not enough. When I try to call a company's Provider line, the customer service representatives can't/won't give me their TIN.

Is there a certain department I should call to get this information? Compliance, provider relations? Any tips anyone has?

Thanks,

Melissa

Do you have access to the 1099 forms that the carriers should be sending to your providers & facilities, assuming you receive tax documents being that you are a federal agency? If so, the carriers TIN should be on the tax forms you receive from payers.
