Assistant surgeon paid and Primary surgeon not paid

I have a scenario where the insurance paid all CPT codes for the assistant surgeon but denied all CPT codes for the primary surgeon. After discussion with them, we have decided to correct the coding changing the CPT codes for the primary surgeon. Do I also have to do this for the assistant surgeon even though the claim has already been paid?

If it's indeed correct to change the coding, then it would need to be changed for both assuming the charges allow an assistant.
