We have a patient who requested an immunization that is not covered by his insurance. We are billing the patient for the vaccine itself but can we still bill his insurance for the immunization administration since they do not cover the vaccine?

If a vaccine or drug is not covered then by extension there would be no coverage for the administration. I would recommend against billing the insurance - you may get paid, but if they discover their error then they will recover the payment and you will be left having to track down the patient and trying to collect the payment after the fact.
