In reading an article in the plastic surgery news dated june 10,2008 the cpt corner states that cpt code 21600 (partial rib resection) is included in the global 19364 code and cannot be separately reportable. I know that previously cpt code 21600 was able to be reported seperately and payment was allowed for the additional code. Where can I find the date that this policy was changed?

According to CCI, you can still bill it w/ a modifier. We haven't had any problems with not getting paid - so far at least.
Have you also looked at these codes involving the ribs during reconstruction - 19260 and 19271?
I actually found these better fit the surgery than 21600 in *some* cases -
21600's allowable is around $500 and both 19260 and 19271 are above $1000.
