I would appreciate any direction to authoritative guidance to billing for RNFAs services - I'm having trouble finding rules for them specifically. Do the same rules apply as for other nurse practitioners? Also, would the -AS or -80 modifier be more appropriate? For some reason I keep thinking that the -80 is for MDs only and the -AS for other practitioners, but I haven't been able to find that in writing since I started looking and may be mis-remembering something. Here are a couple of links that may help. Also, Medicare does not recognize RNFA's as providers so they do not reimburse. (we have a contract with our local hospitals to receive payment from them but ours are CSA's not RNFA's)
