Hello!

I am looking for examples of current billing office structures. How many staff you have and what their job descriptions are? Do you have your accounts divided up by last name, payor or by account activities?

Any information would be helpful!

Thank you!

Tara

Our current structure is:

* Chief Financial Officer
* Billing Office Manager
* Billing Office Supervisor
* Individual Billers (6 billers)
* Clerical Support (2 clerks for filings, scanning, etc)
* Cash Posters (2 cashiers who post all of the monies into the billing the system)

Currently we are divided by an Alpha Split. We have tried specific insurance carriers in the past but then it makes it hard when you have to cover for someone when they are out and you are not familiar with a specific carrier.

Most offices will try a couple of different ways alpha vs. carrier vs. provider type, etc. Generally you have to find what fits for your office.

Good luck!

We have 40 providers (MD-NP-PA). The authorization are completed by the MA or Nursing Staff at the time of the physician request for surgery. We do have a surgical division.
