Hello

This is a billing question, just curious for some input as I am new to ASC billing and coding.

My manager states that we include all written off procedures when submitting UBs. She states that these written off procedures (written off due to Incidental Procedures per our contract w/BCBS) our taken into consideration by the ins company when applying the patient's coinsurance. Also, we should not even CODE/Bill these procedures so the patient's bill is not too high!

Anybody? I am confused!

Thanks, Susan

I have heard a lot of debate in regards to this issue myself. When we code procedures and there is another code that's incidental to the primary, I do not put that code on the bill since most payers are going to most likely deny the other procedure anyway. I'm curious also to see what other ASC's are doing if other people can write back and let us know also!!!:
