my coworkers and I need clarification on coding the professional fees for an inpatient stay

BLOOD IS DRAWN FOR LAB WORK ORDERED BY PHYSICIAN (CBC, INR, PTT). I SAY CODE 85027, 85610, 85730. BUT SHE SAYS CODE 36415, 85027, 85610, 85730.

please help...thanx

You need to check who is billing the lab work if the hospital lab is then you can not charge for any of it the lab would bill for it

at our hospital, we recently took on the professional billing for a certain physicians group. one of those oversees activities of the lab/path depts. so on the inpt chart our bill now splits out a facility claim & a professional claim on the same encounter. so we will bill the 85027, 85610, 85730 on the profee side(physicians fee schedule) with mod 26 (i am still researching use of this mod with labs- not sure it is correct/appropriate) and the facility reports the draw 36415 along with facility pricing of the same CPT codes 85027, 85610 & 85730
