Wiki Can you bill for a Certified Perfusionist?

I am trying to do research for the company I work for that multiple lines of business. My specialty is IONM not anything related to Cardiology stuff. My company is wondering if we could bill insurance companies instead of the hospital for their certified perfusionist who are running the cardiopulmonary bypass machine. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

No. The services cannot be billed directly, it's part of the facility reimbursement which is why the facility subcontracts and reimburses you directly.

We’re you able to get any other information on this? You can bill commercial plans for perfusionists I’m just having a very difficult time locating the correct cpt codes for operating/monitoring the heart lung machine.
