One of my physicians was told recently by an auditor that he could bill separately for reviewing a patients pathology for a lesion excision, even within the post operative period. Has anyone heard this and what modifier would you use?

hmm.....I would request the documentation to support that from the auditor. If you get it, posting it here would be a great asset. I was taught that this inclusive, but would love to be wrong!

26 mod

Typically it would be a 26/pc mod. You should check with your insurance companies to see how it would/should be documented.
