I had a audit and I am been told to change my e/m from 99213(no labs order, prescribed medication given) to 99214 as patient condition seems to be chronic.
"Ongoing neck and shoulder pain. Is been sent to specialist for evaluation and is having a acute flare"
Should I be considering this as chronic just because provider stated is ongoing, to me the provider never stablished that is chronic and per the icd10 rule the provider should lead me to the diagnosis code if is not leading me to a chronic diagnosis how im I to count this as a chronic illness with exacerbation for my e/m.
the funny thing is that I do not have G29.- listed and I was not to to add.
