I currently work for a physician who uses a specific ASC. I am being asked for every cpt and ICD 10 used for every case. Is this even compliant? Should the physician's office code for the ASC ? Going over a questionable case to make sure it's correct I can see but I am providing codes for all and am worried this is not right. Thank you J

I code for an ASC and I never ask the surgeon's coder for CPT codes. I code by what was documented on the OP note. I will confer with the surgeon's coder if there is a denial for conflict between what I coded and what the office has coded. I think the only time they should be asking for your codes is beforehand to get pre-approval from the payer.
