what would be the best dx code for elevated troponin?
 
dx elevated troponin

I come up with about 3 different ones, all of them nonspecific. You could go any of several different ways.

794.39 nonspecific abnormal function study of cardiovascular system (troponin is pretty specific to the cardiac muscle)--this is ill defined though. I'm kind of on the fence with this one.:confused:

796.4 abnormal clinical findings--this one is a possibility as it's pretty generic.

790.99 nonspecific findings on examination of blood-- This one is also a possiblity. I'ts also generic.

I don't know if you are aware of this web site, but am sending the link. www.labtestsonline.org This is a good source for lab tests. It explains them, as in why and where, and gives you norms and so forth. I use it all the time.

Sorry, but it looks like this is another of those that is coder choice.
