Hello,
I'm wanting to take on CRC but would like a bit more info on it, is it worth taking the course? I've been in the Med. field since 1995 as a Med Assistant but done ins. and billing for the most part. I have a ton of experience in many ways, would I be doing myself any good financially by getting this certification?

I would recommend you take the CPC first, and then CRC if you still want it. Although the CRC course is setup for newcomers, because Risk Adjustment is so focused on diagnosis codes, I view the CRC as a focused coding specialization.

However, grabbing a coding certification should open certain doors, however medical coding is not an entry level job.

Here are some good resources if you want to learn more:

https://www.aapc.com/certification/crc/
https://hmsa.com/portal/provider/Risk_Adjustment_in_Medicare_Advantage_Plans.pdf
https://www.cms.gov/CCIIO/Resources/Presentations/Downloads/hie-risk-adjustment-methodology.pdf
https://www.medirevv.com/blog/what-is-hcc-coding-understanding-todays-risk-adjustment-model - a little promotional, but still good information

Also, I work with HCC/Risk Adjustment on a daily basis. Feel free to message me any specific questions you might have.

Hope this is helpful!
