Hello, Im new at this so forgive me if im not doing this correctly.

Can you tell me if any of your practices perform echo with strain on non-cancer patients, as a tool screening tool? If so, what diagnosis codes do you use and are you getting paid?

Thanks for any help!

Definitely going to need more information. Diagnostic studies require an order. What has the provider listed as the indication on the order for the echo? You can't assign a diagnosis code (ever) unless a provider has told you why the echo is being performed. If they're screening only for a cardiovascular condition, then you'd code Z13.6 screening for cardiovascular disorders. If a diagnosis of an underlying condition or symptom is the reason for the echo, you'd code that. Other reasons for an echo with strain imaging (besides chemo medication) is if they've had cardiomyopathy, heart failure or pericardial disease or are at risk. You'll need to find out for sure from the provider. Medicare won't pay for screenings, but commercial payers might.
