I have a patient that came in for a sterilization consult. We billed out with the sterilization V code. It was denied because they do not accept V codes. Is there another diagnosis code that can be used for sterilization?

it depends on which V code you used. The only option you have is a V code, the payer does accept them it just may be the patient does not have a benefit for elective sterilization.
 
Its for a Medicare patient. I found out that they don't cover elective sterilization for men or woman. Thanks for your help
