I have an MRI with report stating:

L5-S1: Mild posterior bulge is present without canal narrowing. Mild foraminal narrowing is noted on the right related to bulge and facet degenerative change present. On the left, similar mild narrowing is noted related to mild bulge and facet hypetrophic change.

The impression states:

1. Bilateral mild foraminal narrowing, L5-S1, related to mild bulge and facet hypertrophic change.
2. Extensive hypertrophic change with edema at L5-S1 bilaterally.

I have found a lot of conflicting information on the internet, and I struggle with spine terminology/anatomy a great deal.

Can anyone shed some light as to diagnosis code/s, mainly whether all of this is contained within the diagnosis of "degenerative changes"?

Thank you so much!
