Doctor is using hypomastia as the diagnosis for what appears to be breast implants for cosmetic purposes (this is a self-pay acct). The only dx code that comes up for hypomastia is a congenital disorder, 757.6. I'm leaning towards 611.8. Any other opinions would be welcome.

It's not acquired

Not my area of expertise ... but
The patient's condition isn't acquired - there was no trauma or disease.
So I would not be inclined to code it as a "disorder" of the breast.
I vote for hypomastia - 757.6 Dx code.

I would prefer to use 611.8 and V50.1 both together. Surgeon should specify that it is a congenital hypomastia otherwise "if not documented not done" policy applies.

Thank You

THanks for your responses. I think the doctor is the only one who can resolve. I'm going to send a query asking for clarification. Thanks again.
