Hello fellow coders. I have a very basic question. The surgeons that I work for use terminology such as chondral lesion(knee), chondral defect(knee) & I'm always fluctuating as to which dx code to use. I've considered 718.06, 736.6, 738.8(more osteochondral). Can anyone give me some guidance? This coding terminology is used when the surgeons perform chondroplasties in the 3 compartments of the knee. Thank you for your help.
 
Those are the codes that I use for Chondromalacia. Do you consider chondral defect = to chondromalacia? It's amazing to me how similar a lot of codes are. I thought chondral defects are an early form of OA. aargh.
 
Icd doubt

Hi,
I have doubt in coding icd for malaligned patella.Would you please clarify what can be coded for the above mentioned diagnosis?
