Pt had an MRA neck w/wo performed......order and indication on report state CAROTID STENOSIS. Impression states NORMAL MRA OF THE CAROTID ARTERIES. No other history.

Should I be coding 433.10 or V71.89???

if the PT has Medicare I would check the LCD list for your state, V71.89 may not be a billable code. Also, most payers will not pay on "V" codes. Does the patient have other symptoms, family history of carotid stenosis, stroke?
