What Ecode do I use when a patient gets dust in his eye from moving furniture? The patient sustained an abrasion to the cornea S05.02XA. I need an appropriate Ecode to place with this.

Thanks

I think you might be referring to the external cause of the injury? These are V00 - Y99 codes. E codes are Endocrine, Nurtitional and Metabolic diseases. I hope this helps!

W26.8 Contact with sharp object not elsewhere classified

My best guess is W26.8 which is contact with sharp object not elsewhere classified. Reasoning: the dust was sharp enough to cause a corneal abrasion and there is no other classification under "contact with inanimate object" that is related to dust or dirt.

Many happy returns of the day!:)

From your description I would say T15.00XA Foreign body in cornea, unspecified eye, initial encounter. Used unspecified eye as it was not mentioned but this can be changed if documentation mentions which eye.

This would be my suggestion.
