Wiki ED E/M codes vs Observ E/M codes

Hello - I'm not coding for the ED physician, but a specialist who places the pt in observation status (observ can be anyplace). I would use the new observation code vs the ED codes according to 2 webinars that I recently attending but I do not have the presentation.

What are others doing? I can't find anything online regarding which code set to select from.

Yes, you are correct that you would use the observation code instead of the ED code.
The CPT book also has this information but the article from AAPC may explain it a bit better.
