Hi.

Iam looking for some guidance having a brain fart. When I have a detailed HPI, Expanded Exam and SF MDM what level would that be 99212 or 99213? Thank you

Depends if the practice policy states that MDM has to be one of the 2 out of 3 key components for assessing the level. If so, 99212. If not 99213.

When you say detailed HPI I assume you mean detailed history. HPI is only one of the 3 elements of history and can only be brief or expanded.

If MDM is not a required component then you have a detailed history and EPF exam to consider. For an established patient 2/3 key components must meet or exceed the stated requirements to qualify for a particular level of service which, in this case, is a 99213.
