Hi
If a family provider sees a patient for a condition such as a cold, or abcess or asthma, can he use diagnosis codes from Chapter 15. Or are Chapter 15 codes only for OB providers? Coding guidelines do state unless the provider documents a condition is incidental to the pregnancy, all conditions are relevant and should be coded from Chapter 15. I just want to confirm if this rule applies to family providers? Do you have any articles or resources you can share on this as well?
